"Treasure Chest" Dite Starr-
If you think of Helen as the Gold Roger of the Rexverse, then Dite is the White Beard. One of the few competitors to Helen's power when they were both in their prime, they began as rivals but found each other to be kindred spirits and ultimately best friends though neither would admit it.

Dite was once a member of the Holy Tribe, the superhuman clan that lives on the Holy Mountain and are charged with tending the earthly entrance to Heaven. Always feeling something was missing in her life, she found her calling when the mountain was struck by a meteor which contained gold- Dite immediately became consumed with a desire for material wealth and treasure. She became the first of the Holy Tribe members to leave the mountain in thousands of years, earning a hideous scar on her back as the others tried to stop her. She began a life of banditry and treasure hunting. They often met looking for the same loot, usually found something to argue about, fought over it, made up afterwards and went drinking. Dite was the one who taught Helen to read the Ancient's Script that allowed her to navigate the world on her journey with Ece.

Dite is one of the few who knew of Helen's injuries and Rex's birth from her battle with Cerberus, Helen deliberately seeking her out to tell her. As a result, Dite decided to turn her treasure-seeking to find something powerful enough to undo the curse that prevented Helen from being healed, something she did not succeed in during Helen's lifetime. A great deal went unspoken between the two, never genuinely willing to admit their respect and love for one another for fear of losing the magic of their rivalry, but they understood it all the same. For example, Dite framed her trying to find something to heal Helen as proving she could get it before her and then planning to show it off just to rub it in Helen's face. And the way they often tussled but never fought sincerely- because there was the unspoken realisation between them that before her injuries, Helen would win and afterwards, Dite would win. The pair cared for each other's pride too much to prove it.

Dite's epithet was given to her on their first meeting, not due to the huge treasure chest she carried about with all her loot, but due to her mesmerisingly massive bazongas, which practically hypnotised Helen on sight.

Due to being a Holy Tribe member, she ages much more slowly than most- thus by the time of Rex's journey she's in her early-70s but appears in her mid-40s and retains the strength of her prime. She describes herself as Rex's unofficial godmother and dotes on him excessively, perhaps in an attempt to make up for all the silent love she had with Helen. Arguably the strongest human in the world by modern-day, she captains a fortress ship named The Vault.

Her animal theme is a whale, not only to represent her limitless physical power but her larger than life personality that roams the world as its domain. Also, whales have been known to steal catches with surprisingly delicate methods. To further represent her freedom-loving personality, when a depiction of her animal theme is visualised, it usually has a pair of wings.

"Underworld" Si

Si was a child assassin put through the process of 'human gu.' Gu, traditionally performed by filling a jar with venomous animals until they devour each other and one remains, with all the toxins concentrated into one being. In the case of 'human gu', a hundred children were sealed into an underground chamber with nothing but each other and a single light source, to concentrate killing instinct. Si awakened her killing instincts so well her ability to vanish lead to the responsible organisation believing it had ended in failure, repeating the process using the same chamber three more times without realising she was still there- meaning at the age of ten, she killed 399 others barehanded. Her name means 4, to reference she completed 4 gu. Emotionally dead, she followed orders like a perfect, empty killing machine.

She was already considered one of the most deadly assassins in the world as a child and was hired to kill Helen. Her repeated failures and Helen's kindness awakened her emotions- specifically, an intense, undying hatred. Si used that hate to break free of her organisation's control when she refused to give up on the contract when it was cancelled, and she developed further emotional freedom over her many attempts to kill Helen. Si carried equal parts grudge and gratitude for allowing her to feel again, their complicated relationship was supposed to end with Si able to regain her pride. Si offered Helen any one request, expecting her to ask to stop her murder attempts. Helen instead informed her she didn't need anyone's help and could shove her favour up her butt. This left Si stuck without a way to truly free herself from her debt to Helen. This was done deliberately by Helen just to annoy Si, who she loved to teased endlessly.

Si was a mere 15 when Helen was injured, making her in her mid-30s in the present day. Being an unfathomable edgelord, when meeting Rex and discovering his parentage she decides to repay and get revenge on Helen at the same time by ostensibly taking him as her disciple, but planning to break his spirit and have him be slavishly devoted to her, replacing Helen in his heart. The plan falls apart when it turns out his gentle, dark and unbreakable personality suits her gothic tastes too much and Si ends up being a big ol' tsundere, genuinely helping him grow stronger. In the modern-day, Si remains an assassin, on her own terms, and seeks to destroy the organisation that put her through the gu in the first place.

Her animal theme is the snake, suitable for her role as an assassin and one of the critical ingredients of gu, but also reflective of her two-faced nature. Not only for her tendency to backstab, but also how she often hides her love of mushy stuff behind her deadly warning colours. She also shed her skin and became a new person.

Ece-
One of the last elves, Ece is the person Helen loved most in a life filled with romance- and the only one who did not love her back. Ece encountered Helen by chance and witnessed a great feat of strength, prompting her to ask Helen to help her find her husband, Khan who had been missing for hundreds of years. Helen expected the quest to be a short one but turned out to be the longest of her life at five years. At first, Helen's selfish thrill-seeking nature and Ece's selfless do-gooder philosophies lead to a rocky relationship. Nevertheless, Helen's pride refused to give up on the quest, and Ece still considered Helen her best bet, and they forged a special connection over the years. Ece, defenceless as she was, could get away with smacking Helen around the back of the head when she was being weird or selfish and grew more comfortable expressing her own desires the more time she spent with Helen.
Their journey crossed the globe twice over and ended with the discovery that Khan was being held in the monster's home continent of Hell, leading to Helen facing Cerberus, to gain entrance. It was this battle, a match between the strongest non-hero human and the strongest non-demon monster, which left her victorious but disfigured.

As one of the greatest healers in history, it was Ece's talents that saved Helen from death after her battle with Cerberus, but she could not remove the curse that left her with the crippling after-effects. Helen considered that Ece loved Khan more than her to be the greatest failing of her life. It was how Helen, who had never needed anyone in her life, came to understand the pain of needing someone in a way that cannot be fulfilled- which in turn is why Helen chose to keep and raise Rex, rather than give him away like her other children.

In the modern-day, Ece and Khan live far from the rest of the world, attempting to reunite and revive the elf species. Helen had the last laugh, as she always did, by reincarnating (by sheer force of will) as their first child who Ece cheerfully declares she loves even more than her husband.

Ece's animal theme is the swan- a representation of purity and love, in particular, the sort of eternal, permanent love Helen never had before her, as well as being an elegant picture but willing to smack you around. Also very suitable for a protective mother.

"Cool Hat" Mysteria McClain aka "Long Legs McClain"-
Mysteria McClain was born to a long-standing and famous family of knights in Brighten and was considered something of a dud. Being an awkward, gangly nerd who only wanted to study magic for theoretical purposes, she was shoved into a magic academy to be a forgotten embarrassment.

When Helen attended the academy, when both were 15, she was responsible for helping Mysteria come out of her shell and appreciate her own talents. As well as having some pride in her appearance- Mysteria was Helen's first crush and the start of a lifelong thirst for tall people. Helen finished learning what she wanted from the academy in only a year, and the two parted ways, but Mysteria's many research trips often crossed paths with Helen and each time boosted her confidence. She eventually became a national sex symbol and the very picture of the slinky, elegant, tall hatted witch, with a cold exterior and dark demeanour but at her core was the same nerdy teen ready to geek out of magic.

In the present day, Mysteria is the headmistress of Brighten's most accomplished magic school. While not present when Rex first attends under a false name, she discerns his identity afterwards and tutors him personally. Rex becomes one of the few people privy to her well-hidden nerdy side, and they become quite close.

Due to their similar height, appearance and grim attitude, some characters theorise that Mysteria is Rex's biological mother and an unspecified great debt to Helen she refuses to discuss was raising Rex in her place. Though not true, it's never publically disproven, so a lot of characters still believe it even after Rex's father is introduced- because that just proves who his dad was.

Mysteria is represented by a black cat, the perfect symbol for the embodiment of witchiness- when visualised it's usually a slinky, sleek thing but during nerd outs, it fluffs up. Because cats are pretty much dorks.

Jijang Eun

If anyone could be called Helen's nemesis, it's Eun. Eun was born to extreme poverty and has no sense of pride at all- willing to do anything to ensure she ends up in the lap of luxury where she can remain. The only thing she refuses to relent on is that her wealth must be hers. For example, she has no problem using her feminine wiles to trick people out of money but wouldn't accept being a trophy wife.

The same age as Helen, they met at 18 and Eun quickly realised she was a meal ticket for her strength. Eun played the innocent victim of a local crime lord, tricked Helen into destroying the syndicate and picked up the pieces. Though she did not realise it at the time, Eun getting Helen to promise to 'never, ever hurt her' at this first meeting would save her life many times over.

This is because Eun turned up to dupe, steal from, trick, bamboozle, seduce and otherwise exploit Helen a lot, and Helen rarely got the better of her. Helen's furious tantrums whenever she got fooled never became violent purely because of her pride- she wouldn't break a promise even against Eun.

While a reasonably strong warrior in general terms, Eun is not even vaguely in the same league as the rest of Helen's rivals and any battles she won, she did with guile. More often than not, however, she simply skedaddles when in danger and arranges for others to win her fights for her.

Like Helen, the name she is most commonly known for is an alias. Jijang is a goddess of misfortune and Eun means silver, making her a contrast to Helen, who named herself for the most beautiful woman in history and gold.

In the modern-day Eun has succeeded in her goal of obtaining fabulous wealth and does her best not to do her own dirty work. She operates a widespread criminal enterprise as a politician. She becomes one of the few people to deduce not only who Rex is but also his status as the hero and encourages her daughter to manipulate him much like she had his mother. However, Rex is a) much more sly than his mother and b) not nearly as vulnerable to seduction resulting in Rex getting the best of them both.

Her animal theme is a fox, symbolising her cunning and unscrupulous nature, but primarily a scavenger that thrives on others. She is also a fox, being the woman Helen rated as the second most beautiful in the world after herself- with the running gag that if Helen described Eun as number two, whoever she was talking to would usually question how anyone could be more beautiful. Naturally, pissing Helen off in the process. When being especially scheming, her fox is occasionally visualised with nine tails.
